Sprouting the love of reading

Little Leaves Reading Club is where young readers grow. Twice a week after school, kids gather for a snack, a lively read-aloud, and time reading side by side with a trained high school Reading Buddy. Then they get hands-on with the story by drawing, acting it out, building, and writing their own endings.

Every child takes home a new book every other week, so they build their own library. At the end of each 8-week session, we bind each child's artwork and writing into their own "My First Book," which they share with family and friends at our celebration night.

Our themes are all about belonging: families of every shape, big feelings, where we come from, and what it means to be brave. Every child who walks through our door should see themselves in a story and feel like they belong in a room full of books.

The program is completely free, with snacks, books, and supplies included. All adults are background-checked, and at least two adults are always in the room.
